I believe that Black women are, either overtly or covertly, trendsetters and influencers. We see it around us every day. We showed our influence at the polls in 2012 when 74 percent of us went out and voted, giving President Obama another four years.

We understand that voting is an important step in addressing the myriad of issues facing our people. Although there are factions that think that the disappointment and disillusionment will keep us away from the polls, they are sadly mistaken. At this important time, we will wield our influence with our family, friends and community getting them to the polls. We will continue the trend we began in 2008 voting at higher numbers than any other group.
