As a pragmatic activist, I am voting early and for Hillary Clinton. In a way, I am one of those #GirlIGuessImWithHer voters, as I wish I could be more enthusiastic about my support; but mine is a vote for redemption. I want to see Hillary Clinton prove to me what I have heard about her and I am willing to take a chance on the first, female President of the United States of America. I am voting to protect our reproductive justice rights and because I want to see the first Black woman Supreme Court Justice. As the co-creator of #AskaSista: Black Women Muse on Politics, Policy, Pop Culture and Scholarship, I am voting for all the Black women I saw floating around in various positions of power at the Democratic National Convention. I believe in them. I want to give them the opportunity to work their #BlackGirlMagic in a way they could only position themselves in, before. I am voting for Fannie Lou Hamer, for the opportunity to hold Hillary Clinton accountable, for my mother and my sisters. Let’s do this, Ladies. We were the largest democratic voting bloc in 2008 and 2012 and we can do it again to shape the world like Sojourner Truth and Ida B. Wells-Barnett.
