I vote now for what my parents voted for then!

“We Want An Immediate End To Police Brutality And Murder Of Black People”
~Point #7 Black Panther Party 10 Point Platform

This month marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party. As the daughter of a Black Panther, I was especially taught the importance of civic duty and communal responsibility. That responsibility includes the ballot box and so much more. We must hold elected leaders accountable, participate in redistricting, serve on juries, be active in schools, be present at local community boards, and run for office. VOTING is but one of many critical pieces for demanding #BlackLivesMatter.

We honor our past by building a better future. My vote and my activism is a continuum of the mighty work of our parents and grandparents and a primer for the fierce fighters of tomorrow.
